Today's Airing of The Price is Right (#6150)
Coming or Going: Lori wins by "Coming": Grandfather Clock ($4725)
Punch A Bunch: Andrea wins $250 with 3 Punches
3 Strikes: Laura lost; Lincoln Town Car ($47,623)
Showcase Showdown #1: Lori wins with 95 cents
1 Right Price: Paul wins; Scooter and Chair ($1642)
Pick A Pair: Milton lost; Dining Room Group
Any Number: David wins Punch Set ($875)
Showcase Showdown #2: Paul wins with 75 cents
Showcase: Paul wins; Espresso Machine, All Terrain Vehicle, and Cruise of the Greek Isles ($27,849)
Squeeze Play: Melissa wins (removed “7”); Trip to Rome ($7194)
Master Key: Fay wins with Master Key; Sewing Machine, Dinnerware, and Chevy Aveo
Grand Game: Raymond wins $10,000 (Target Price: $4.25)
Showcase Showdown #1: Raymond wins with 60 cents
Race Game: Michelle wins; Day Bed, Food Processor, Desk, Pair of Bicycles
Cover Up: Elie wins; Pontiac Sunfire ($17,681)
Check Game: Marvin lost (Check for $2300); Piano ($4000)
Showcase Showdown #2: Elie wins with 95 cents
Showcase: Raymond wins; “Priceco Warehouse Store” Showcase, Stereo System, Spa, and Party Boat ($40,992 in prizes)
Our San Diego State representative (also attended by the spawn of Price’s producer Roger) was clearly anticipating to play a Pricing game involving cash prizes according to her “Poor College Student” shirt, but a trip to Rome should be something as good. The same Fay who almost rammed herself into the bottom of the stage as she came on down would conquer Master Key with only one key in hand. After finding out she won all 3 prizes, Fay made a run around the stage before arriving back to bow down to the floor Bob looked on in amazement. Following this act of victory, Fay had the energy to hug Bob at the very end before commercial break. Resembling a whole different “Raymond”, our Raymond for the hour would leave Contestant’s Row at a time Melissa wished she had stayed for. Words of encouragement from family, including a use of the word “girl” were shouted during Fay’s time at the Big Wheel. Michelle relied upon the audience only once during the Race Game and that only occurred after pulling the lever to reveal only 2 prizes with the correct prices. Like Fay, Elie was quite a character too, only it all took place on the Turntable. So far, we have 5 winners in a row; will Marvin make this a perfect Friday show? Sadly, this loyal left-handed viewer since he was a “a little guy” wrote an unfinished check above $2000. “There he goes again” says Bob as Elie made his victory leaps during Showcase Showdown #2.
Cliffhangers: Stephanie wins (8 Steps); Home Office and Computer
Showcase Showdown #1: Andrea wins with 85 cents
Switch?: Andrew lost by “staying”; Couple of Banjos and Sofa
Let ‘Em Roll: Stephanie wins $2000; Ford Focus
Range Game: James lost; Spa ($8995)
Showcase Showdown #2: Andrew wins with 80 cents
Showcase: Double Overbid; “Rhymes” Showcase, Trip to Philadelphia, London, and Japan; “FPI: Federal Prize Investigator” Showcase, Dish Washer, Couple of Motorcycles, and Trailer
Among our first four contestants today was a braided haired, yet female Aries and Andrew, one of the few fellows to ever give up in Contestant’s Row (by sitting down) after placing a $6000 bid. Negative audience reaction was heard the moment Andrea chose to freeze her choice, but she proved those show participants wrong. James of Indiana who just arrived in Contestant’s Row was lured back before joining Andrew and Stephanie in their seats in Contestant’s Row. Aries’ chance of giving Bob both a hug & kiss only if she wins the Chevrolet came true after all. It’s interesting to note that Aries’ had no knowledge of Lucky 7 until Bob explained it of her, including every other viewer new to the game. Both of Cliffhangers last two items were priced correctly, winning Stephanie a new home office and a newfound love for the game. Before Andrea said she would rather have her name pronounced Anne-DREE-uh, Bob acknowledged the fact that older men tend to shrink, explaining his lost of a couple of inches over the past decade. Our character of the day Andrew escapes at last to make one important decision as a student of television (future TV producer), only resulting in the first loss of the show. Our second Stephanie played Let ‘Em Roll to the very end of the road, leaving the stage $2000 richer. Hoosier James made it on stage for Range Game showing up last. The only thing Andrew hurt was his hand rather than the Big Wheel or any witnesses. Today’s Showcases featured rhymes, an FPI agent, and distraction “behind the podium” possibly due to the presence of our agent. Unfortunately, our players with a big difference in height went over by so little. Sort of interesting this had to happen on the day before the 55th presidential inauguration takes over Price’s timeslot on all CBS stations.
Credit Card: Aaron lost (Credit Limit $2000); Steamer, Tea Set, Elliptical Trainer, Cookware, and Chair
It’s In The Bag: Norah wins $4000
Money Game: Tawnda wins; Pontiac Vibe ($17,835)
Showcase Showdown #1: Aaron wins with 95 cents
Secret X: Jared wins (X at the Top); Bedroom Group
Dice Game: Kelsey lost (rolled first “6”); Ford Focus ($16,265)
Double Prices: Darlene lost; Sailboat ($6171)
Showcase Showdown #2: Kelsey wins with 95 cents
Showcase: Kelsey wins; Dining Room Group, German Beer Steins, and Trip to Germany ($15,829 in prizes)
Aaron may be shorter than his fellow members of Contestant’s Row, but a photograph of him playing his now “beloved drums” should be an interesting sight, despite the fact that he’s not a drummer, nor he’s loyal to Credit Card. Bob kept the show’s promise of “making people happy” by insisting that members of Price’s backstage staff return the latest prize up for bids, specifically for one Tawnda who just entered Contestant’s Row. On the first day of her 18th year of life, Norah proved her true loyalty to Price after her It’s In The Bag performance, but unfortunately her mother and grandma forced her to end the run for $16,000 out of their less than confident selves. No hard feelings by our young contestant or her family, $4000 is more money than most people will ever earn in one day. Both Tawnda and Norah would say hello to their crew back home before leaving Showcase Showdown #1 and the stage today. Thanks to frequent visitor and friend Robert’s advice, Jared managed to be among the lucky ones to come on down. “3” was Kelsey of Oregon’s unlucky number in a Dice Game playing consisting of the first “6” being rolled and actual boos from the audience at one point. Darlene sporting a hairstyle from times gone by escapes Contestant’s Row nice & easy due to her left foot recovering from surgery. Jared dedicated his Big Wheel spin to all the unemployed actors of New York City; Bob mentioned the ones in Southern California as well. None of our formerly best-kept secrets of the Southeast featured at the beginning of Aaron’s Showcase were devoured as Rich described these products provided by Krispy Kreme. We end today’s show with Kelsey surrounded by a large number of members in her Oregon faculty as Rich managed to come over to congratulate her with a both a handshake and kiss.
Flip Flop: Margaret wins by “flopping”; Trip to Cancun, Mexico ($3764)
Pocket Change: Morgan wins with 50 cents; Ford Focus ($18,530)
Punch A Bunch: John wins $100 with 4 Punches
Showcase Showdown #1: Morgan wins with 95 cents
Barker’s Bargain Bar: Jerome wins; Iron Clad Gas Stove and Bar Set (Bargain of $1000)
Now or Then: John lost (“Then” August 1998); Living Room Group and Keyboard
Any Number: Brittany wins Ford Taurus ($21,390); Dining Room Table ($465)
Showcase Showdown #2: Jerome wins with 90 cents
Showcase: Jerome wins; “Unpacking” Showcase, Range, TV Set, Grandfather Clock, and Chevy Colorado ($31,686 in prizes)
Our week begins with a “Lots” theme in the opening, followed by some hair partially blocking a camera’s view of Bob making his entrance from the middle big doors. Lucky for Margaret, she didn’t have to use “all her strength” as Bob demonstrated during his own “flipping”. The same female variety of Morgans who had no idea what to bid (“I don’t know”, says Morgan after Bob asked for her bid) before discovering that’s she won her way on stage became Pocket Change’s first winner. Representing the Navy, John used most, if not all his strength when punching four holes on the Punchboard. It’s safe to say $100 is quite a lot when used wisely. Folks, meet Timothy the Dog who should be in someone’s care before the night is through. Jerome wearing a shirt with Bob’s image on front escapes Contestant’s Row not for anniversary jewelry as presented earlier, but for luggage and both prizes featured in the bargain bar. A can of Yams with a 1998 price above $1.00 sealed this civilian John’s fate. Like Morgan (a soccer player), our last contestant to escape Contestant’s Row was athletic (in basketball) and is also the proud owner of a new automobile. Today’s Showcases featured boxes, snow, and a Chevy Colorado with a back full of boxes. Before the break, Bob searches for the member of Price’s staff celebrating a day of birth. Before Bob revealed the Showcases’ actual retail prices, he asked the audience to wish Shane another happy day of birth. We end today’s show with Jerome and his wife standing in front of something much more expensive than anniversary jewelry, a Chevrolet automobile sharing a “C” state’s name.
Lucky 7: Vera wins ($1 left); Ford Explorer ($27,415)
Half Off: Steven wins (3 Halves; Box #9 contained $10,000)
Side By Side: Vanessa lost by “Left Side”; Electric Vehicle ($6933)
Showcase Showdown #1: Steven wins with 65 cents
Buy or Sell: Kurt wins (+$600); Dining Room Table, Fireplace, and Washer & Dryer
Dice Game: Charles wins (Rolled second “1”); Dodge Neon ($16,125)
Hit Me: Angela wins (Stayed at 18; House Breaks 21); Bedroom Group
Showcase Showdown #2: Kurt wins with 80 cents
Showcase: Kurt wins; “Hot Spots” Showcase, Hot Tub, Trip to Rio De Janeiro and Hawaii ($29,582 in prizes)
The year 1995 (back in Contestant’s Row) and the number “5” were Vera’s lucky numbers today, but we can’t forget old “7” which she got it “right on the nose” early on in Lucky 7. More luck comes between two boxes left in “Box Central” as Steven representing the Marines went his own route between the choices of Box #9 and #3. No luck was needed for Side By Side, but the audience managed to change Vanessa’s opinion on which “Side” makes the price of the Electric Vehicle. “Come on, Vera!” says Vera before spinning the Big Wheel for something greater than 65 or a tie at least. Price loyalist and sporting powerful legs Charles demonstrated for us his rolls, make that “throws”. I still ponder what was on his mind believing that the second digit in the Neon was “1” (lower than rolled number “2”). Angela escapes at the very last moment for Price’s version of Las Vegas blackjack, with the House losing to an Ace and “7”. Today’s Showcases featured “Hot Spots”, mall shoppers, and a Chrysler PT Cruiser. We end this week with Kurt and his small, yet energetic crew in front of the door that revealed his trips to Rio and Hawaii.
Barker’s Markers: Lisa lost; Day Bed, Popcorn Machine, and Karioke
Showcase Showdown #1: Kijana wins with 90 cents
Pick A Pair: Marlane wins with Peanut Butter and Cleaner ($2.99); Living Room Group and Globe
Cover Up: Craig lost; Ford Ranger ($15,941)
Double Prices: Stephen wins; 65-inch TV Set ($3299)
Showcase Showdown #2: Craig wins with $1.00 ($1000)
Showcase: Kijana wins; Kitchen Group, Dining Room Group, and Snowmobile ($30,184 in prizes)
Our first prize to come on down before our Contestant’s Row was a trip to San Francisco, including a certain number of days/nights repeated for Marlane. Candice claimed to have no knowledge of the Money Game, but forgot to mention that she contains the knowledge of Ford automobile prices from the first to last two digits. Lengthy audience interaction (Bob wanted a book at this point) confirmed Candice’s choice in digits. Kijana may have a total of 5 Plinko chips, yet Bob would mistakenly say they can total up to $40,000 before acknowledging his error as the first chip reached its destination (not the $10,000 slot). All it took was good luck and Bob’s “direction” for Kijana to earn herself over $10,000 in prizes. Even though her Plinko run ended in the $100 slot, $12,100 was enough for a shout of “Thank you, Jesus!” No member of the audience, even the fellow saying, “put it back” (a price marker) could save Lisa from an avoidable fate in Barker’s Markers. Kijana’s score of 90 cents kept Candice away from winning a spot in today’s Showcase in only one spin by one nickel. Representing somewhere near Buffalo, New York, Marlene plays Pick A Pair for some new furniture without her husband in sight, so she’s alright. Craig of Lincoln, California escapes Contestant’s Row at last for a playing of Cover Up that seemed easy as baking a cake, yet everything would “fall” the moment Craig believed the fourth digit was a “9” too. After a lengthy moment of thought, Myloh came up with a Luggage bid that wasn’t accepted by plenty of audience members, thus giving Stephen of Bakersfield (not yet Barkersfield) the last minute escape. Craig (now $1000 richer) earned the chance to bid on a Showcase featuring various hairstyles and a trip to Sydney, Australia. We end today’s show with Kijana surrounded by “Two Rooms” in the middle of the snow.
Step Up: Dionthe wins Desk and Treadmill (+$500); Sofa and Cookware
One Away: Keisha wins; Pontiac Sunfire ($17,681)
Cliffhangers: Garrett lost; Pontiac Vibe
Showcase Showdown #1: Keisha wins with 85 cents
One Wrong Price: Christine wins; Digital Piano, Lighting Group (Wrong Price $2290), and Dining Room Table
Pass the Buck: Rebecca “Loses Everything”; Chevy Aveo (Behind #6)
Freeze Frame: Toni lost; Barrel Sauna ($5245)
Showcase Showdown #2: Christine wins with $1.00 ($1000)
Showcase: Keisha wins “Traffic” Showcase, Cellular Phone, Laptop, Chrysler 300M, Chrysler Sebring; Floor Clock, Bedroom Group, and Trip to Hong Kong ($91,530 in prizes)
Dionthe also used the “time out” sign, as Bob demonstrated for us, to end her Step Up run at the best possible time. Keisha wearing a jacket and a shirt with the words “I’m Your Next Contestant”, successfully finished One Away without a single mistake, a journey which ended in a victory run off in the sunset (or in Price’s case, the Turntable). This is certainly a rarity, Bob never stopped his reveal of who in Contestant’s Row bid exactly right and that would Arizona’s Garrett now $500 richer. Unfortunately for the retail major, $10 on the mixer featured in Cliffhangers resulted in a walk for our mountain climber which doesn’t even compare to the old “Long Walk for a Glass of Water” analogy. Yep, Keisha performed her act her victory yet again after surpassing all in Showcase Showdown #1. After giving Bob a stuffed Colorado Ram in appreciation, we would discover that Christine is likely to be a news reporter someday and her next article (for the Colorado-based newspaper; one copy will be sent to Bob) will be focused on her Price experienced. Like Garrett, Rebecca had an unlucky time on stage after choosing both “Lose Everything” panels on the Pass the Buck board with only two chances. Looks like Bob a good feeling about Rebecca’s fate shortly after she missed the chance needed to avoid leaving Pass the Buck empty handed. Sorry folks, Richard of Contestant’s Row who had plenty of rowdy supporters in the audience (all whom Bob dubbed “The National Association for Educating Young People” as a perfect name for Richard’s group) never escaped at the very end. Our final contestant on stage was not an Antonio, not a Tony, but the female version of both names Toni. Yep, names are indeed fascinating! Christine adds a win of $1000 on the Big Wheel to her college newspaper article. All seemed lost once Christine’s Showcase bid turned out to be over, but Keisha’s excellent bid with a difference of $250 saved both Showcases. We end a show worth a place in your personal Price VHS archives with Keisha and a member of her crew in one of 3 new cars.
Card Game: Kenneth lost (on $1000 card); Ford Focus ($18,165)
Showcase Showdown #1: Caitlin wins with 80 cents
Coming or Going: Jeremiah lost by “Going”; Iron Bed ($4192)
Shell Game: Erik wins (All 4 Shells, Ball under Shell #2); Trip to Washington, District of Columbia and Digital Camera (+$500 bonus)
That’s Too Much: Twawn lost; Chevy Malibu ($22,780)
Showcase Showdown #2: Twawn wins with 80 cents
Showcase: Caitlin wins; “Dr. Quincy Quack” Showcase, Washer/Dryer, Stereo System, and Dodge Neon ($29,227 in prizes)
Viewers in the Eastern and Central Time zones were lucky yet again, as G.W. Bush decided to keep his appearance spanning ABC to NBC back by one hour and under 15 minutes. “We want Caitlin!” says Bob as she made her escape from Contestant’s Row for the legendary Clock Game, which all required a calm mind (resulted in winning Sofa in 15 ½ seconds) and the reminder that no prize featured is worth more than $1000 on hand. Gracie representing Detroit in a Price sweater and cap briefly held Bob’s duty of holding the long microphone and revealing most items prices before the audience forced her to choose an item rather than “CLR”, which was the sole item priced $5.50 not chosen. Gracie managed to come back from this outcome after Bob told her “you forgot your microphone”, followed by thanking him for making her time on stage memorable. Kenneth found one of 4 “beautiful” cards in the Card Game deck, but unfortunately his decision to stop after bidding $15,000 wasn’t a very wise one, even though he checked twice or more at the large Focus. Nope, Gracie never held Bob’s microphone as she spun the Big Wheel, we can’t risk with something physical rather than internal (or shortage, which ended the life of Bob’s previous microphone). Jeremiah of Minnesota chose “Going”, or $2914 to be exact, and so far it appears he’s going back without a piece of bedroom furniture. The trip to Washington, D.C. was planned well in advance before Erik representing the Marines in civilian (non-Service, non-law enforcement, and contestants on “The $25,000” Pyramid” and its other versions) clothing arrived at 7800 Beverly Blvd. Twawn finally escapes Contestant’s Row to prove himself worthy of the Marine drill sergeants in the audience, followed by some hesitation on whether to go higher before turning to Bob and saying “stop”, making our host put his microphone down in disbelief. Yep, Jeremiah (or Jeremy) will be returning to his schooling in Minnesota with only his prize won before leaving Contestant’s Row and plenty of cherished memories. Today’s Showcases spanned from a poster of Steve McQueen printed on a DVD and a country doctor whose surname says it all. We end today’s show with Caitlin and two of her crewmembers running toward the Dodge truck.
(Blogger.com problems cannot, I repeat cannot keep us down)
Switch?: Michelle lost by “staying”; Bar Set and Dresser
Pocket Change: Matthew lost by 20 cents; Ford Focus ($17,540 and $1.00 to win)
Bonkers: Lisette wins; Catamaran ($4195)
Showcase Showdown #1: Michelle wins with $1.00 ($1000)
Secret X: Sergio wins (X in the Middle); Dining Room Group
Any Number: Melissa wins Dodge Caravan ($19,720); Desk Set ($845)
Hi Lo: Antoinette wins (High Price $5.99); Trip to Puerto Vallarta
Showcase Showdown #2: Melissa wins with 85 cents
Showcase: Michelle wins; Living Room Group, 32-inch TV Set, and Spa ($24,526 in prizes)
Our Monday show begins spanning from a fellow named Sergio to the year “1964”, or in the case of the Motorcycle now under “Barker’s Canadian Beauty” Michelle of Ontario’s hands, its actual retail price. David of the Canadian Navy may be “onboard” as Bob put it when he entered Contestant’s Row, but it was Jinx the Dog who was onboard the stage. Bob unwillingly enters a brief edition of “This is Your Life”, featuring proud Michigan resident Matthew greeting everyone from family to pets to his fellow Detroit firefighters. After the screaming of females and Matthew questioning “the girls”, referring to the members of the currently broke down modeling position, a question Bob (along with viewers including myself) disregarded, we finally got to meet something brand new behind the Giant Price Tag. Matthew was right, he’s never heard of this game before; the same goes for every other viewer. More on this interesting little Pricing Game named Pocket Change as times goes by. Self proclaimed “Disco Queen” Lisette played Bonkers in only half the 30 seconds given, all without audience advice at hand, but at ears still. It didn’t appear at first glance Michelle’s first spin would beat her fellow contestants currently tied, but it managed to stop at $1.00 less than a second after Bob believed it would end up on a nickel. Unfortunately David never escaped Contestant’s Row during the second half, oh well at least Sergio escaped for Price’s large-scale version of tic tac toe. He may have showed an act of a non-loyal viewer twice (placed free X in the middle for instance), but Sergio managed to pull through. The famous Lobster Tennis Ball machine made its 2005 debut today. From the moment Melissa hugged Bob after the Caravan was revealed, most would have a positive feeling that she would become its proud owner. It was obvious to Melissa and most viewers (loyal or not) that “0” belonged at the end of the automobile’s price, rather that being the first digit of the Desk Set and the Piggy Bank change. “Adios” says Bob after Antoinette won herself a trip to Puerto Vallarta via Hi Lo. Showcase Showdown #2 almost ended with the same outcome as our previous Showcase, excluding a win of $1000. Showcase #2 featured unknown presidential candidates, Pool Table balls, and Chrysler Crossfire taking a majority of the Showcase’s actual retail price. We end our first show this week with Michelle on her crew testing the new furniture.
(You’re free to speak about Pocket Change under “Comments”. A thousand pardons on the length of time until this post finally appeared on the site, that's a higher authority's issue to be resolved, and I'm not talking about Colin & Jesse. Good day!)
Showcase: Michael wins; “Home Improvement” Showcase, Pinball Machine, 55-inch TV set, and Trailer ($29,640)
Our end of the week journey begins with reminders of “Hilarious Contestants” on our screen, followed by a sign reflecting the times (and leaving another smile on Price's enemies, which will eventually be wiped off once justice is served) referring to the state of the modeling position. Hopefully a very recent edition of Merriam-Webster’s dictionary only has the definitions of the word “hot” (heat, currently new, and such) we are more used to, besides the slang kind sometimes used when referring to one’s physical appearance, especially females. Even if Cheryl’s showing of appreciation for the show and Southern California had gone on longer to the point of Bob being unable to reveal the combinations, most viewers would still assume that the correct combination to the safe was $580. Rose Marie was the latest dice roller who made the game seem more difficult, forcing Bob to stand at the other end of the table preventing another pick up. The same Catherine who threatened Bob’s physically with her excitement filled self from the moment Rich summoned her (and allowed Bob to send her back whenever he’s ready) would escape for It’s In The Bag. Don’t worry about Michael of Contestant’s Row after receiving an elbow hit from Danielle (pronounced DAN-nee-elle, which I much prefer now thanks to Bob), at least one of the two neighbors will make the great escape. One of our cameramen made the right decision of keeping Catherine in the picture for her various facial expressions and moves as Rose and Cheryl attempted to tie $1.00. Michael was the one to escape Contestant’s Row for 1 out of 3 prizes he would most certainly enjoy, a Motorcycle. He wanted that Motorcycle’s price to be more than the Baker’s Rack so badly that Bob requested that he himself tell the holder of the price to reveal it immediately. Expect more of Michael’s Bob bows as the show progresses. Folks, it’s safe to say that Jessica is not a loyal viewer of the show, after insisting that the Cookie Press featured in Cliffhangers is $350, after Bob stopped her from staying at $275. After the break, Bob announced that thanks to the audience, Jessica is now the proud owner of the most valuable Cookie Press ever, there’s the possibility she could place it on auction site Ebay soon. As our next item up for bids was being revealed, our latest contestant to come on down already made the way up. Daisy Mae made the quick return back on stage for the Money Game, where she won a nice $228 prize. After obtaining 90 cents on the Big Wheel, Michael gave Daisy a handshake in the long run before performing his victory leap & shout. Showcase #2 featured the latest appearance of Price’s very own department store. We end the first week of shows for 2005 with Michael and his crew in front of his new trailer. Yep, Michael made his final bow to Bob at this time.
(There's always the possiblity that whenever Price's intro includes "Barker's Beauties are Hot", they're implying the position's unfortunate situation, as in constant new faces every other show, which evokes one definition of "hot". If that's so, most loyal viewers aren't the only ones who want the regular modeling position restored. Good day and good luck!)
Showcase Showdown #1: Candace wins with $1.00 ($1000)
Double Prices: Maria lost; Trip to Vancouver ($2683)
Let ‘Em Roll: Judith wins with 3 Rolls; Chevy Aveo
Make Your Move: James lost; Lamp ($20) Dining Room Table ($930), Clock ($4725)
Showcase Showdown #2: James wins with $1.00 ($1000)
Showcase: Candace wins; Bedroom Group, Robes, and Spa ($21,060 in prizes)
Before TV Guide’s “Best Game Show of All Time” quote appeared on the screen, many viewers would notice an interesting looking fellow with a hat and beard witnessing today’s show up close and personal. Our first contestant to come on down didn’t have long to wait, as April made the walk to Bob’s right with a shirt featuring the words “Bob Rocks”. After years of rocking back and forward in his chair while viewing his own TV set, Bob finally knows the true meaning behind the phrase. Even though April’s shirt shares the same color of orange with the Colorado, she and this particular truck weren’t meant to be on the road together. Arkansas teacher Candace used the spare time to visit Price, plus try out in Shopping Spree. Representing a church group and making her 11-year-old grandson feel proud, Veronica was still smiling after discovering no $10,000 in the box bearing the boy’s age. While leaving the stage, Bob suggested making another visit to the show when he’s 16, or maybe he’ll be a future contestant. Candace was so close to becoming $5000 richer on the Big Wheel, but the $1000 she already won should satisfy her as an Arkansas educator. Bob confirms that James of Contestant’s Row did indeed make a bid before our next item up for bids was brought before us. Maria may have lost, but she still has a chance of making the trip to Canada on her own ticket, maybe with some financial support from family. After Judith’s escape, her first question was “Where are we going?” which of course was Let ‘Em Roll, not any other place she may have in mind. Judith was close to using some profanity after the outcome of the first half of her first roll (first half had an uncounted cube), but managed to reframe the moment she said “you little.” After the world got to meet quite a character like Judith, James made his escape from Contestant’s Row to make 3 important moves of his own, all to the sound of music you’d expect to hear in Line ‘Em Up. It was clear that James’ moves were wrong from this point of no return. During Showcase Showdown #2, it was no accident that James spun the Big Wheel backwards before gaining the cents totaling $1.00. Showcase #2 now in James’ hands had a sandy theme, from a couple of surfboards to a Jeep Wrangler. We end today’s show with no overbid, but it would be Candace to pull through.
2 For The Price of 1: Stacey lost (Chose Third Number); Table Lamps ($875) and Trip to Mazatlan
Switcheroo: Mary Jane wins Electric Toothbrush ($18); Pontiac Sunfire ($17,650)
Grand Game: Brandi wins $10,000 (Target Price $5.00)
Showcase Showdown #1: Brandi wins with 55 cents
Flip Flop: Nancy wins by “flopping”; Bed ($2746)
Line ‘Em Up: Sarah wins; Dinnerware, Walkie Talkie, Chair, and Ford Focus ($18,290)
Barker’s Bargain Bar: Helen wins; Secretary Desk (Bargain Price $800) and Dining Room Table
Showcase Showdown #2: Sarah wins with $2.00 ($11,000)
Showcase: Double Overbid; “Star Schlep” Showcase, Vacuum, Range, and Mercury Sable; Living Room Group, Security System, Trip to Amsterdam
Our middle of the road, or week journey begins with the red-haired and flowered Stacey, who became the latest 2 For the Price of 1 player to choose the last digit first rather than the common middle one. Following Stacey’s unfortunate lost, we got to meet one happy Sarah wearing a shirt with the words “I (Heart) Mista Bob” and a photo of a young boy whom I assume is in relation to her. After Sarah nearly caused physical harm to future Switcheroo player Mary Jane before ever ceasing and desist in her spot in Contestant’s Row, Bob was close to locking himself up in the dressing room even before Sarah even made an escape. Speaking of escape, Mary Jane would be our next player on stage only moments after Sarah’s arrival. Our own Mary Jane is living proof (pardon what it implies, especially after the Sarah episode in her life) that even the loyal viewer can forget how to play a Pricing Game once he or she is on stage, but Bob was nice enough to refresh her memory. Thank goodness Mary Jane’s previous choice for the Sunfire’s price never turned out to be correct, which would have been one sad disappointment. Like all the great ones, Sarah will make her escape eventually, but first we must allow Brandi to prove that she contains the proper knowledge of items under $5.00. Brandi’s knowledge and talkative self (proving this show was taped before Thanksgiving Day 2004) lead to a prize of $10,000 in cash plus a hug, which Bob considered to be harder than her previous one. All it took was one spin for Brandi to win herself a spot in today’s Showcase, since Stacey unfortunately had a score of 20 cents. We almost had an onscreen collision with not theme music, but with an electric scooter (up for bids) and Bob. If it weren’t for Bob’s enemies, he would have referred to the driver behind the Lucky 7 collision by name (Rachel) today, or if neither foe had their way, Miss Pennington probably would’ve been involved in that amusing incident dozens of shows ago. Back to our contestants, Nancy carrying an Armstrong bracelet leaves the side of Leslie (as in Nielson, for those familiar with the comedic actor, not Easterbrook, for those familiar with the “Police Academy” series) of the Air Force to make only one vital decision in Flip Flop. As expected, Sarah escapes Contestant’s Row full of joy and no harm was done to Bob physically before and after her Line ‘Em Up victory, which consisted of a run around half the stage before stopping by Roger’s corner. Bob remained at full strength for the rest of the show, including Helen’s visit to his bargain bar and another surprise from Sarah. Sarah’s first $1.00 celebration reminded Bob to stand back, or in the bonus spin’s case (Sarah wasn’t looking, which is a sign of danger) stand behind the Showcase Showdown set while keeping watch of Sarah via monitor, or through assumption. We end Showcase Showdown #2 with a victory dance between Sarah and a member of her crew from the audience, nice I tell you. Showcase #1’s main attraction was a Star Trek spoof, with a Star Wars-type opening. Even though today’s Showcase ended with two overbids (Sarah’s bid was “merely over”, as Bob called it), Bob acknowledged the fact that both Sarah and Brandi are leaving Television City with more than they expected, from over $10,000 in cash to a Ford automobile. We end today’s show with Bob greeting members of the audience, while Rich witnessed a odd dance involving a creature beyond Earth and the dark haired “Star Schlep” captain.
Squeeze Play: Samantha lost (removed second “0”); Hot Tub ($4705)
Showcase Showdown #1: Angela wins with 80 cents
1 Right Price: Ryan lost; Sink Cabinet ($2097) and Sofa
That’s Too Much: Lisa lost; Ford Focus ($17,025)
Check Out: Thomas wins ($1.02 difference); Bedroom Group
Showcase Showdown #2: Thomas wins with 50 cents
Showcase: Thomas wins; “Around the World” Showcase, Luggage, Trip to Scotland, Singapore, and Tahiti ($31,556)
Our second 2005 show begins on an odd note, make that a couple of odd notes as portions of the theme music clashed as Bob made his entrance from the big doors. Alfonzo of Cucamonga wasn’t tempted by the prizes featured in Temptation’s latest appearance, but only fell victim to the 4th digit in any automobile’s price. Shanna, whose name can be compared to “banana” when it comes to rhyming, is our latest addition to the Contestant’s Row lineup. Angela joins Bob to hear the greatest announcement in television history to date as said by our announcer Rich, “Angela, you are going to play Plinko for up to $50,000!” Oh well, $1500 is more money that a majority of us will ever earn in one day. Samantha played for a Hot Tub in the midst of both Rich’s description and a “wolf whistle” so high in pitch that the fellow responsible is lucky I didn’t go deaf, hopefully nothing similar happened to the rest of y’all. Angela managed to surpass both holders of the score 65 cents during Showcase Showdown #1. Representing Wheeler, West Virginia was Ryan, according to his decorated shirt and Bob’s recognition of it. At this point of the program, every witness has realized that we haven’t seen a true winner so far (I consider anyone who won money in Plinko a winner), so Bob had the liberty of summoning our next audience according to what’s written on his slip. Before Rich named our true next contestant, Bob attempted to call his next door neighbor on down, who was nowhere to be found in the studio. During the latest That’s Too Much training session, our cheerleader Lisa was traveling the route of hypocrisy before correcting her shout of the game’s namesake. We’re at the bottom of the 6, excluding Plinko no true winners so far, and all the pressure falls on Columbus, Ohio’s best known shopper Thomas. After conquering Check Out, a touching moment between Thomas and Bob in the form of a hug. Before Thomas made his way into today’s Showcase, Bob had to cancel the audience’s booing at the assumption of his “good friend’s” spin not going all the way around. Showcase #1 featured Dr. Drillmore (a play on the name “Gilmore”), more high pitch whistling than I can take, and an Oscar being presented to the lady unfortunately being the one constantly earning this audience member’s whistles. In case you were wondering, I was speaking about Rachel around the end of the previous sentence. Pardon my seemly uptight self, but that sort of whistling to me doesn’t belong on Price, especially when Price’s enemies continue to threaten our show and Bob, most recently former producer Mr. Phillip Rossi, former companion of Roger. We end today’s show with Thomas and his crew celebrating in front of the trips he earned after passing the “Dr. Drillmore” Showcase.
(“6150 shows” as Bob mentioned after reminding us that only 68 shows ever produced had no winners, is the total number of both daytime and night time editions of the program as of today’s show. Our total is for the daytime show, of course.)
Switch?: Donna lost with a “switch”; Safe and Bar Set
Hole in One (or Two): Debra wins (Line 2); Chrysler PT Cruiser
Coming or Going: Timothy wins by “Coming”: Entertainment Center and TV Set ($6838)
Showcase Showdown #2: Donna wins with 90 cents
Showcase: Tiffany wins; “After the New Year” Showcase, Lawn Mower, Drum Set, Motorcycle, and Ski Boat ($53,649 in prizes)
Our first show of 2005 begins with a few leaps from the first of two contestants named “Amy” to Bob’s New Years greeting to the home viewers. Even after Amy Lee won a honeymoon to London thanks to husband Johnny’s advice, don’t expect the fellow to make all the decisions in this newly created marriage. Paul celebrates his second wedding anniversary performing his boxing skills on the Punchboard, resulting in a variation of “ouch” while punching out the last hole with his self-proclaimed “lucky punch”. After our braided haired Debra addressed herself in a unique fashion (Bob reacted with “I’m Bob!”) before the bidding process would begin, Tiffany escaped Contestant’s Row, purse and all before One Away. After finding out she only had 1 digit in the Escape’s price right, Tiffany almost made an excellent scenario seem tougher. Thank goodness she would eventually answer Bob’s simple question on which digit should stay, turned out to be “2” of course. Pennsylvania diver Donna finally escapes her group after 2 days of being a member of the Stage 33 audience. Debra most certainly made her grandma in the audience proud for not only the trip to the show, but also escaping Contestant’s Row at last. Once again, Bob gave up his inspiration putt (I wish he allowed a member of the audience, particularly Debra’s grandma to perform the putt), which resulted in Debra’s nervous wreck status. To the fellow who shouted, “just take your time and hit!” during Debra’s second chance at the hole, I salute you. Timothy escapes a last (yep, even Bob used the word “escape”) to make an important 50/50 decision, leaving us with a show standing at 5/6 Pricing Games won.
